Recently, several black hole-stellar binaries have been identified in Gaia data. For example, Gaia BH1, where a Sun-like star is in moderate eccentricity, ~1 au orbit around a black hole. The orbit of the systems is difficult to explain through binary evolution, requiring (for example) unusual common-envelope evolution. I will discuss how triple evolution can account for such systems.
